Most parents would willingly die for their teenagers but sometimes the more challenging task is to live with them. Adolescence has the potential to be the time that sets the standard for your relationship as they become adults. It can be hard watching your teenager figure out life and create who he or she wants to be. They are making the choices that will direct the rest of their lives.

How do you know if your pre-teen or teenager would benefit from seeing a counselor?

If you see or have concerns about one or more of these behaviors in your teenager, give me a call,

  • Signs of cutting, eraser or lighter burns
  • Not eating or eating all the time
  • Losing or gaining weight rapidly (5% change in a month)
  • Suspected drug use/experimentation
  • Sexual activity (i.e. “sexting”, provocative dress, experimentation)
  • Pattern of unexplained bruises
  • Victim of abuse
  • Talking about death, dying, or hurting others Starting fires

If you see several of the following behaviors, give me a call

  • Sleeping all the time
  • Skipping school
  • Recent drop in grades
  • Lack of interest in activities
  • Constant arguments or complete silence
  • Frequent tearfulness
  • Disappearing without notice
  • Secretive behaviors
  • Increased mood swings for no apparent reason Obsessive about appearance
